 Who we are

The Strongest is a developing soccer club for girls born between August 1, 2001 and July 31, 2002.  Our focus is on teaching the fundamentals of soccer and introducing the children to higher level soccer play than can be found in some recreational soccer leagues.   Our goal is to teach each girl to:

  • Be a LEADER and take charge of any situation under pressure.
  • Be a SPORTSMAN by showing enthusiasm, spirit, and courage.
  • Take ADVICE and criticism in an effort to improve their soccer skills.
  • Be HUMBLE and respect their opponents in both victory and defeat.
  • Be a COMPETITOR by having pride in themselves and never giving up.
  • Be AGGRESSIVE by always giving maximum effort.
  • Be DEDICATED to the sport by being focused and prepared at practice and in games.
  • Be LOYAL by thinking in terms of "we" instead of "I".

With these values, we believe that your children can excel in this sport and have fun doing it.

Our coaches also focus on individualized player evaluations.  Especially at this age group, differences in motor skills, emotional development, and physical ability can make it frustrating to parents and coaches who wish to see constant and quick progression.  However, our coaches want to evaluate your child's current aptitude in these areas and work with you to create an individualized practice plan which recognizes her current abilities and sets realistic and specific goals for her to achieve throughout the seasons.

The Strongest in Bolivia

Our club takes its name from Coach Giovan's favorite soccer team in La Paz, Bolivia.  His father, Rino, is from Bolivia and played professional soccer there before coming to the United States.

The Strongest was originally known as "The Strong Football Club" but, clearly, it is not as catchy as it's current derivation.   The Strongest  is the oldest active soccer club in Bolivia and competes at the highest levels of South American soccer.  Currently, they are in great need of a successful season.   For this reason, Argentinean coach Toresani has been hired and many Argentinean players have come with him.  Here are a few highlights of The Strongest's past accomplishments:

  • First team in South America to beat a Brazilian team with a difference of 3 goals in the Copa Libertadores de América (2001, 5-1 Juventude)
  • First team to win the country's current Top Division title: Liga Profesional de Fútbol Boliviano (1977)
  • First Bolivian team to win a game abroad in an official cup (1-0 in Ecuador against Deportivo Quito for the 1965 Copa Libertadores de América)

While The Strongest in Bolivia is not a world-wide known club, such as Manchester United or Real Madrid, it is a part of Coach Giovan's soccer heritage for which he is immensely proud!

Coach Giovan would like to acknowledge and thank his father, Rino Claros, for all the years of dedication, patience, and time that he gave to his sons and the many other children who played soccer on his teams.  It is a tradition that Coach Giovan is so proud to carry on with his own daughters and her teammates!

I love you, Dad!  I cannot wait for you to come help me teach these girls all that you know!
